The long version — because the short one leaves out the hard part. Here’s my story, why I built the roadmap I never had, and why I’m still doing this work every single day.
I came to the U.S. from Ecuador at six. College wasn’t part of the plan — honestly, surviving was. I started working at 14. By 20, I had two kids and was pulling 12–13 hour retail shifts while barely seeing them.
My son would sometimes stay at the babysitter’s because I’d get off work after midnight — and dragging him out into the cold for a few hours of sleep felt worse than the alternative. I was doing everything right by every standard that had been handed to me. And it still felt like the ceiling was getting lower, not higher.
I was not going to spend the next 20 years of my life trading time for a paycheck that couldn’t keep up with my life.
— Katherine RodriguezThat’s when I started looking for something different. I wasn’t looking for “sales.” I wasn’t looking for a pivot. I was looking for a way to be present for my kids and still build something real. I just didn’t know yet that those two things could coexist in the same career.
I talked too much on calls. I took every “no” personally. I compared myself to every rep who already seemed to have it figured out.
I was a woman coming from retail, in a male-dominated industry, with no business degree, no network, and no idea how the corporate world worked. I didn’t know what a discovery call was. I didn’t know what a sales cycle was. I didn’t know what CRM stood for.
What I had was the ability to listen, ask real questions, and actually care whether the person on the other end of the phone got what they needed. I didn’t know those were skills yet. I just thought I was being decent.
Turns out, in B2B — really listening, following up, not overselling — is exactly what wins. I didn’t need to become a different person. I needed to understand the environment I was in.
Sales was the only department where income wasn’t tied to a diploma or a title — it was tied to what you could actually do. That distinction changed everything for me.
Small deals became big deals. I learned the language. I learned what questions to ask and when to stop talking and listen. From customer service to closing deals worth tens of thousands — then hundreds of thousands. Over my career, I closed over $10M in B2B contracts. Real companies. Real money. From home.
I negotiated my way to a fully remote position — my company created the role specifically to keep me. That’s not luck. That’s what happens when you build a track record people don’t want to lose.
On top of my W2 career, I built 1099 contract income and social content income — both from home, both around my family. My W2 career alone brings in six figures. My husband is a full-time stay-at-home dad to our four kids because of what B2B remote income made possible. Individual results vary — but that’s the real picture of what this path made possible in my life.
I’m not teaching from memory. This has been my career for 10 years and it still is. I’m a National Sales Manager still closing B2B deals today. I’m not on the other side of some big leap I took years ago — I’m in the middle of it, every week. That’s the whole reason I can show you what actually works instead of what used to work.
Not because they can’t find it — but because it gets buried under MLM pitches, vague “remote work” advice, and courses built for people who already have a corporate background.
I didn’t have any of that. I had retail, two kids, and the instinct to figure things out when no one was going to figure them out for me.
If that’s you — you already have what it takes. You just need the map I never had. That’s the one thing Home2Hired gives you.
I didn’t need to become a different person to succeed in B2B. I needed to understand where my skills already fit — and learn the language that matched them. That’s the translation this course teaches. And it’s the one thing that changed everything.
